Well, this thing just looks…frightening! And in more ways than one. Parrot’s stable of robo-copters aren’t anything new at this point. The company has already shocked the tech/toy world with their first flying objects, but now, the SkyNET is taking things to a new level. And yes, it’s really called SkyNET. Straight out of Arnold’s Terminator realm, this do-it-yourself robotic helicopter is reportedly cheap to build and easy to operate. But it’s more than just a toy. Tom Hardy, who’s bulked up to play Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, confirmed to us that he got “knocked out” by Shia LaBeouf…

We’re not normally interested in celebrity tittle tattle here on Den Of Geek, but one recent story doing the rounds on Monday really caught our eye. According to several news outlets, Shia LaBeouf (he ofTransformers fame) came to blows with actor Tom Hardy on the set ofThe Wettest County In The World.

In a lengthy interview with Details magazine, LaBeouf said he’d engaged in a tussle with Hardy, and that his opponent “never did that roughhouse stuff with me again.”

We recently met with Tom Hardy for a round table interview to promote the forthcoming Warrior, a film about two brothers who fight in a mixed martial arts tournament. We’ll be bringing the full transcript of that meeting nearer the movie’srelease in September, but one thing we can share with you is that Hardy briefly mentioned his encounter with Mr LaBeouf (and this was before LaBeouf’s interview came to light).

“I got knocked out by Shia LaBeouf, actually,” Hardy said. “In Wettest County, apparently.”

At this point, that the atmosphere in the room seemed rather unusual, as though no one involved quite knew whether Hardy was being serious or not. His use of the word ‘apparently’ would also suggest that he was winding us up. Nevertheless, Hardy persisted with his version of what happened.

“[It was] behind the scenes,” he said, before being almost drowned out by incredulous laughter, both from me and my fellow hacks, and the row of publicists sitting a short distance behind us. “No, he did,” Hardy continued. “He knocked me out sparko. Out cold. He’s a bad, bad boy. He is. He’s quite intimidating as well. He’s a scary dude.”

When someone understandably asked Hardy how the fight started, Hardy was less clear.

“He just attacked me,” Hardy said, provoking more laughter. “He was drinking moonshine. I was wearing a cardigan, and er, went down. I woke up in Pnut’s arms.”

To clarify, Pnut (pronounced Peanut) is Hardy’s personal trainer. The actor continued, “He was concerned for me. I was like, ‘What was that? It was lightning fast.’” And he said, ‘That was Shia.’ I said, ‘Fuckin’ hell. Can we go home now?’ ‘No, we’ve still got three weeks to finish.’”

Now, if you’ve seen Hardy’s work in Bronson, or the trailer for Warrior, you’ll know that he’s a fairly well built chap. Is it likely that LaBeouf (who is, shall we say, rather less well built) really knocked out him out? It’s certainly the story that Hardy’s going with, even if the way he related it suggested that he had his tongue firmly in his cheek.

DC Universe Will Reboot This August (No Comments)

At the conclusion of Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert’s 5-issue miniseries Flashpoint, DC Comics has announced it will reboot its universe and re-number each of its titles to begin at issue #1. In a letter from DC Senior Sales VP Bob Wayne to comic retailers, Wayne explains that the publisher will perform some character alterations with regards to “appearance, origin, and age” in an attempt to bring DC’s classic group of characters into a “more modern, diverse DC Universe.” The reboot will officially be underway on Wednesday, August 31st when DC will only release two titles: Flashpoint #5 and Justice League #1 to be written by Johns with art from Jim Lee.

A prison guard dog has been fitted with titanium teeth in Australia after losing his real ones.

Axel, from Melbourne, is ready to sink his teeth into any would-be escapees after being fitted with the metal canine teeth.

They were fitted by veterinary dentist David Clarke after Axel shattered his teeth while biting into his bed board.

Dr Clarke said: “So much is spent on training working dogs that it ends up much cheaper to repair a dental problem than retire the dog.

“Prison dogs, police dogs, hunting, quarantine and customs dogs often suffer injuries in the course of their job.”

While Axel’s terrifying teeth are the result of an accident other dog owners are going to great lengths to ensure their pampered pooches have the perfect ‘bite’.

Cosmetic dentistry is growing in popularity amongst dog owners – whether it is to repair a broken tooth or to ensure their show dogs have the whitest, straightest teeth possible.

The Dark Tower adaptation falls into place (No Comments)

Here’s what we know about The Dark Tower to date. It’s the Stephen King work that’s been planned for adaptation by Ron Howard, who is looking to do part of the story as a series of movies, and the rest as an NBC television series.

Ron Howard is set to direct the opening movie, and possibly the first season of the TV show, and Javier Bardem has been cast in the lead role as the Gunslinger, and MTV is linking the likes of Naomie Harris with the project too.

Furthermore, it’s now been revealed, too that Mark Verheiden has signed up to co-write and produce the television segment of the project. He’s got a background in the likes of Heroes, Falling Skies and – yes! - Battlestar Galactica.

This still leaves up in the air the question over who will take charge of later films. But given that we’re looking at easily one of the more ambitious attempts to bring a book to the screen, then it’s understandable that it’s going to take time for everything to slot into place.

We’ll have more on The Dark Tower on the site on Monday.

Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars know this was a breakthrough season. Not only did the quality of the animation seemingly jump to lightspeed, but the stories went deeper into that Galaxy Far, Far Away than ever before with thought-provoking episodes tackling politics, financial corruption, and terrorism. Not the Star Wars you grew up with, to be sure, but a fresh new take on George Lucas’s enduring space opera for the post-9/11 era. In fact, you wouldn’t be far off if you likened supervising director Dave Filoni’s reimagining of Star Wars to Ronald D. Moore and David Eick’s take on Battlestar Galactica. Especially since BSG-alum Katee Sackhoff is voicing a character on The Clone Wars next season!

Teaser Trailer for Disney XD Animated Series TRON: UPRISING; TRON: LEGACY Score to Get Remix (No Comments)

After TRON: Legacy landed with a thud, I’ve found it difficult to care about where the story goes from here. However, Disney still believes in their black-and-neon franchise and they’re moving forward with the new animated series TRON: Uprising. The series will air on Disney XD in summer 2012 and cover the events between the original TRON and Legacy. A teaser trailer for the series has gone online and if you loved TRON: Legacy, then you’ll probably love this too. It has light cycles and stuff.

More promising is an upcoming remix of TRON: Legacy’s outstanding score. Pitchfork reports that Disney will release Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D on April 5th and it will feature M83, Photek, Moby, Com Truise, and others remixing Daft Punk’s score. The remix soundtrack is available to buy in various special editions on the score’s official website.
